Coronado has 2 teams: the Senior Team and the SCGA team.
Senior Team Play season is underway. Our team has 25 club members and plays home and away matches against 15 other local courses. The regular season ends in September with playoffs in October. Team Coronado won the regular season title last year for the first time. This year we hope to win the playoffs for the first time ever.
Our SCGA team has 27 members and plays a very short season consisting of 6 matches during January and February. We were unable to duplicate our very successful 2024 season where we won our division, won a playoff match against Balboa and then lost a second playoff match by a very small margin.
The secret to success in SCGA team play is to win away matches. Last season we won two of them. This season we defeated San Vicente at their course by a score of 25-23 putting us in excellent shape to defend our title. But the following week we lost a tight match at home against the ultimate champion Steele Canyon by the same 25-23 score. That made the final match against Torrey Pines meaningless for both teams, but Coronado concluded the season on a positive note by defeating our closest rival.
