Coronado Men’s Golf Club
LOCAL RULES
Effective June 1, 2006
Local Rules are those rules issues unique to The Coronado Golf Course. They include but are not limited to peculiarities of layout, condition and safety. Where clarification is considered necessary explanation of the application of the rule and or its identity is included.
General:
1. There is no relief without penalty from “tree wells” on the golf course unless the grounds crew has marked the area as ground under repair. There is no relief without penalty from bare ground, as often occurs near the beginning of paved cart paths, unless the area has been marked with a white line which defines it as “ground under repair”.
2. There is no relief without penalty from flowerbeds anywhere on the golf course. This includes but is not limited to # 8, # 9 and # 15.
3. There is no relief from integral parts of the course which include cables, rods, wires or wrappings when attached to trees, walls or any fence; liners in bunkers and artificial walls and pilings when located in hazards.
Out of Bounds:
Out of bounds is defined by
the course side edge of white stakes, white painted curbing or boundary
fences. This includes: the area surrounding the clubhouse, the starter’s
booth and parking lot, the maintenance facility, the driving range, to the
right of holes #13, #15, to the left of #17, beyond the boundary
fence on #3, #4, #15 and that do not apply to the hole
being played, e.g. the stakes to the right of hole #12 and to the left of hole
#13.
Fences: All fences, boundary as well as those internal to the course (i.e. driving range and safety), are an integral part of the course. As such, relief without penalty is not allowed from any fence or its footings.
Lateral Water Hazards:
All water hazards on this course are Lateral Water hazards and are marked with red stakes or red lines. Where a curb defines the margin of a hazard the “hazard side edge” of the curb defines the “course side” margin of the hazard. A ball is in a lateral water hazard when it lies in or any part of it touches the lateral water hazard.
The view from the tee of hole #9 may not permit the player to see the flight of his ball to termination. The player must have reasonable evidence that the ball has been lost in the hazard in order to proceed under Rule 26-1(Ball in Water Hazard). In the absence of such evidence the ball must be treated as a lost ball and Rule 27 applies. A provisional ball may be hit per Rule 27-2 only if the ball may be lost outside a water hazard or may be out of bounds.
If a ball is in the water hazards to the left of holes #1, #8 or right of #8, #16, #17, #18 you must proceed under Rule 26 (Water Hazards). A player is not entitled to relief without penalty from “unusual ground conditions” in a water hazard (rule 25-1 b note 1) or relief without penalty from an obstruction (24-2 b).
Obstructions:
The concrete curbs surrounding the flowerbed to the right of #8 and the stakes and wires which are sometimes installed around and over the water hazards between holes #8 and #9 are immovable obstructions. If your ball is in the water hazard, relief without penalty from these obstructions is not permitted. If your ball is outside the water hazard and these obstructions interfere with your stance or area of intended swing, relief without penalty is permitted under Rule 24.
Distance Measuring
Devices:
For
all play by members of the Coronado Men’s Golf Club during competitive or
rounds for handicap purposes at the Coronado Golf Course, a player may obtain
distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However,
if, during a stipulated round a player uses a distance measuring device that is
designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g.,
gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.) , the player is in breach of Rule
14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such
additional functions are actually used.
Embedded Ball:
Through
the green, a ball embedded in its own pitch mark, in the ground, may be lifted
without penalty, cleaned and placed as near as possible to where it lay, but
not nearer the hole
Aeration Holes
Through the green, a ball that comes to rest in
or on an aeration hole may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and placed as
near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole.
